(1) Largest Canadian Christian Distributor Closes.  R.G.Mitchell Family Books (RGM) based in Ontario, filed for bankruptcy last week and shut down its retail and wholesale divisions.  In operation for 74 years, RGM was the largest distributor of Christian books and products in Canada.  Word Alive Distributors has begun to lick up much of RGM's business.

(2) Amazon keeps growing!  Amazon recently added Shelfari to their list of company acquisitions.  Shelfari is a social networking site for book lovers.  Amazon's purchase of Shelfari comes on the heels of their acquisition of Abebooks, an on-line seller of used, rare, and out-of-print books.

(3) Sizing Up the Market: New Report predicting growth 'mixes apples and oranges.'  A new study of the religious products world predicts that further gains in the industry will be fueled largely by growth in demand for non-print resources.

(1) Warner Press partners with National Day of Prayer. Warner Press announced it has partnered with the National Day of Prayer Task Force to produce church resources in support of the Pray for Election Day campaign. Warner Press has created a bulletin, bulletin insert, and a bookmark that encourage believers to pray for the upcoming Election Day. These resources provide a way for churches to remind their members of the importance of praying for the nation and its elected officials and that prayers can make a difference. The bulletin, bulletin insert, and bookmark are all full color and feature 2 Chronicles 7:14. The bookmark includes additional verses to consider during prayer.

The Pray for Election Day campaign resources will be available until Nov. 4 and can be ordered by phone at (800) 741-7721 or online at www.warnerpress.org .

(2) ChristianTrade Assoc. Intl.'s Marketsquare Asia 2008 Breaks records. With a 43% increase in attendance across the Hong Kong and Seoul venues, Marketsquare Asia 2008 proved itself a valuable event for suppliers who want to impact the Asian market. Publisher participation grew 63% in Korea alone; nearly 100 from mainland China joined the convention in Hong Kong. Twenty-four American publishers conducted business with their Korean partners in Seoul. New attendance records also were set in Hong Kong.

Based on their experience with two Marketsquare Asia conventions, publishers and Christian booksellers now plan a national convention in China during October.

(3) Operation Worship continues to impact soldiers overseas. Having well-surpassed the initial goal of distributing 100,000 Bibles into the hands of US soldiers serving overseas, the Operation Worship initiative continues to grow and impact the lives of men and women around the world.
The CBA staff prays that you will continue to participate in this project through the holiday season. It can provide a great opportunity for customers to offer a prayer or a word of encouragement to those who are unable to be with their families during the holidays and can help drive more traffic and sales to Christian retail. For more information on Operation Worship and how you can become involved, see www.operationworship.com

(4) Oasis Audio to release Faith of Barack Obama. Oasis Audio is preparing to release the audio version of Stephen Mansfield's The Faith of Barack Obama. The audio will release as part of Oasis' Springwater line. The print edition released in August 2008.
