VOTE! on November 4th.  Our country is in dire need of new and effective leadership.  Do not waver on this important freedom: Vote!

November is Religion and Philosophy Books Month and November 1st through the 7th is National Religion Book Week.  Make a concerted effort this month to support authors of Christian literature.  As you prepare this year's Christmas list and seek wonderful gifts for your loved one's, consider a book.  You'll be glad that you did.

(1)  Google's New Preview Book Tool
At the end of September, Google™ announced a new feature tied to its Book Search program. This new tool, Google Previews, is a widget that anyone with sufficient technical knowledge can add with a simple code to their website.
Google Previews places an embedded Google-hosted preview of up to 20% of any book that has been included in the Google Search database.

Many retailers such as Books-A-Million and Borders have already begun to use this tool on their websites. Amazon.com has its own Search Inside!™ program that is separate from this new Google Previews. Publishers can incorporate this new Google tool on their websites to allow
visitors to browse inside the books they offer. Of course, this tool is only available for books that have been submitted to Google's Book Search program.

For information on how to submit a book to Google's Book Search Program, visit: http://books.google.com/intl/en/

(2) Sony Introduces the Newest Version of its e-Book Reader
Sony has introduced the latest version of its electronic book reader PRS-700 that will become available on the market this month and will cost $399; about $100 more than the previous model the PRS-505. The PRS-700 can hold up to 350 books with its internal memory. The new reader is compatible with
e-book formats that include Word documents, Adobe PDF, and the International Digital Publishing Forum's EPUB Format.
This new version of the Sony Reader includes a touch panel and a reading light. What the PRS-700 lacks that Amazon's Kindle has is the ability to access e-stores for near-instant book downloads. To download books onto the Sony Reader, one must connect the device to a PC.

(3) UPS announces 5.9% rate increase. UPS announced an average rate increase of 5.9% for UPS Ground packages and an average net increase of 4.9% on all air express and U.S. origin international shipments, effective Jan. 5, 2009. The rate increase for air express and international shipments is based on a 6.9% increase in the base rate, less a 2% reduction in the air and international fuel surcharge index. FedEx has announced an average increase of 6.9% for FedEx Express U.S. and U.S. export services, also effective Jan 5, 2009. (4) Send a birthday message to Billy Graham. Franklin Graham recently sent an open letter to brothers and sisters to send a birthday greeting to his father, Billy Graham:

"My father will turn 90 on November 7, and he's been looking forward to reaching this milestone. There is something special we want to give him for his birthday, and I'm writing to ask for your help. We are inviting friends like you to send a birthday greeting or a personal message about how God may have used Billy Graham to influence your life and work.  "We've set up a special Web site, www.billygraham90.com , where you can submit a birthday message or personal story for my father. We're looking for testimonies from people around the world of how they came to know Jesus Christ through my father's ministry."
