July 1, 2008
To date, our short summer has been absolutely fantastic! God is good.
During
the month of July, it is a time to really enjoy the weather, vacation
time, renew your energy and reflect upon your goals at the midpoint of
the year - remember, we have 366 days this year.
In July, the Give God the Glory!
series of books will appear before multiple audiences as we position
our new Study Guide, scheduled for a September 2nd release. This Study
Guide's 90-day pre-publication campaign has reached readers in
Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Caribbean Islands,
Nigeria, Canada, and the U.S., including Book Expo America and the
upcoming International Christian Retail Show, just to name a
few. Also, in this edition of our e-newsletter, we share with you some
of our past events from the Spring and early Summer for your enjoyment.
"While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night, shall not cease."
- Genesis 8:22
Enjoy God's blessings!

Publishing Industry News
NEW Study Guide - Sept. 2, 2008
$8.00 pre-publication price
(1) Researcher asks for help on Christian-publishing study.
A doctoral research project is trying to measure how much reading
Christian materials affects executive-leader performance. While
existing research indicates faith has a positive impact on leadership,
just how Christian publishing influences that hasn't been studied.
Please take a few minutes to provide your insights for this quick
34-question survey. Click here to take the survey.
(2) Please let us know how you're doing.
CBA is praying for all our brothers and sisters in Christ who are
victims of the recent flooding, fires, and tornadoes across the
country. Last week, we asked retailers affected by the floods and
storms to contact us. This week, we'd like to put a call out to our
suppliers. If you're a supplier who's been affected in any way by these
disasters, please take a minute to update us on how you're doing. Or,
if you know of any suppliers who have been affected but can't contact
us, would you do so for them? We want to serve you in any way we can,
especially with prayer. Please e-mail Tammy, your member relations
manager, at thorvath@cbaonline.org.
(3) The CBA Blog: A place to belong. CBA
has seen great success with our blog since it launched several months
ago. We enjoy providing readers with opportunities to discuss industry
issues, but we'd like to take the blog a step further by increasing
member involvement more directly. So, we're stepping back so you can
step forward and share your thoughts on the industry. Let this become
your blog, your place to belong. Check out the latest posts
(http://cbablog.typepad.com/cba/) and get connected.
(4) Win thousands of dollars of new product at the International Christian Retail Show! It's
A New Day for the New Product Gallery at this year's International
Christian Retail Show! Surveys have shown repeatedly that viewing new
product up close and personal is one of the most highly valued benefits
for retailers attending the Show. To make this even more exciting and
useful to attendees, one retailer will win the entire Gallery's
products and will go home with approximately 120 new products for their
store!
To enter the contest, visit the New Product Gallery
(located on the Exhibit Floor, Booth 629) during Show floor hours and
simply scan your badge at the door when you enter. A winner will be
selected randomly and announced on Thursday, July 17 at 1:30 p.m. in
Show Central, Booth 1243. Attendees must be present to win.
For more information on the International Christian Retail Show or
to register now, visit the Web site at www.christianretailshow.com or
call CBA at (800) 252-1950.

Other News U Can Use
I received this from my good friend Pam Perry, Chief Visionary, Ministry Marketing Solutions, Southfiield, MI:
20 Vital Actions for Entrepreneurial Success
1. Seek
God for your unique purpose for in it you will find vision for your
life. 2. Be wary of that which you can only perceive with your natural
senses.
3. Incorporate a mindset of unlimited thinking.
4. Be original.
5. Increase your knowledge base through reading and learning from others.
6. Rally others around your vision.
7. Be relentless in bringing your vision to pass by anchoring all subsequent decisions to your vision.
8. Develop and hone your interpersonal skills.
9. Develop and maintain your personal networks.
10. Assume no one knows what you know.
11. Take good care of your vision supporters (i.e. family, friends, employees, suppliers, contractors, and customers.)
12. Work
with a "homework-to-test" ratio of at least 4-to-1 (i.e. spend at least
four times as much time in preparation than in the game.)
13. Avoid overworking.
14. Take advantage of "right now!" (Do it NOW or prioritize and attach a due date to it NOW!)
15. Exercise common sense.
16. Give without expectation.
17. Be honest.
18. Be diplomatic and flexible, but firm.
19. Share what you have learned with others.
